LOUIS MO (KTVII)
A couple from St. Louis County used Craigslist as a way to find a company that would help them move to Charlotte NC. The men loaded all their belongings in a U-Haul truck and got paid. Police claim they then stole everything.
After seeing an advertisement on Craigslist, the victim hired Robinson Moving LLC. On July 25, 2015, three movers arrived at the victim’s home at 1200 Block Pinecrest Lane. One of the men was paid $1,100 cash for the move. Delivery was to be paid with $300 more.
The victim’s household belongings were loaded into the truck by the three men and they drove off. After the couple received the call from the truck driver, he called them back. The truck driver said that they had to move the property onto another truck, but delivery was still scheduled as planned.
According to police, the victim and his spouse flew from Charlotte to receive a second call from the driver. The victim claimed that the truck was having mechanical issues and had been stopped near their home.
This was the last time that the victim and his spouse heard from the movers. The victim never received the property. Craigslist’s initial response by the couple was removed.
The victim values the property he had taken from his house at nearly $30,000.
Based on the Craigslist St Louis phone number, police have identified the suspect in this case. Deandre Robinson (33), was identified by the victim as “The man that seemed to be in charge” in a photo lineup.
Robinson was later arrested. Robinson is now out of police custody. He faces felony theft charges.
